A Special Tribute

By Mark Podmore

Elaine was always an elegant, cultured lady who had a way with making all who entered her home feel right at home. She, too, mastered the art of cooking and would often have a crockpot on the kitchen counter with something delicious cooking inside. Elaine often put others’ needs before her own and was always concerned when someone in the family would be ill.

Elaine and Elmo, too, always looked at each other with love in their eyes. Every time they looked at each other, there were stars in their eyes!

Visits to the Bouronich home were always made fun because Larry Bouronich always drove new AMC Gremlins and would let us children play with his Gremlin model cars.

Aunt Elaine and Uncle Elmo always had the most gorgeous Christmas trees; Uncle Elmo had bubble lights, Matchless Stars, Reliance Rosettes, Paramount Star Lights, glass ornaments, and tinsel; always topped with a treetop. Uncle Elmo would always put beautiful colored lights on the trees on either side of the steps to the front porch and an electric candle was in each window! Uncle Elmo’s great Christmas decorations always made people stop and gaze in awe as they drove by. It was an inspiration to Mark Podmore, who is now a collector of vintage Christmas decorations and ornaments.
