A Special Tribute to Aunt Mildred
By Mark Podmore

Mildred was always a sweet lady who always had a good laugh for everyone. It was always fun sitting at the breakfast bar in her kitchen while she made sandwiches and fresh-brewed iced tea. Bill Parrish was always quick-witted, also. You could tell they were always in love; even years after they were married. Mildred was small and petite, but always had a fire brewing inside her small frame; ready to make anyone feel at home!

Aunt Mildred and Uncle Bill would always place a ceramic Christmas tree on their console television. Decorations filled the house, but they were never ones for erecting large Christmas trees. Mildred always placed a light strand in the front picture window of her home that cheerily spelled out “Merry Christmas” in green and red lights. She also had candy canes staked into the ground with strings of colored lights hanging on them. She later gave them to Jean Podmore, who passed them onto Mark; who displays them in his yard every Christmas to this very day!
