A Special Tribute

By Mark Podmore

Ray’s nickname was “Lefty”, too, and was often confused with William. Ray was quick-witted and always in a good mood. Ray’s wife Mary Ann was a floral designer and still is to this very day! Ray and Raymond were twins, but weren’t identical twins. Ray Holder was always quick to offer his help to anyone who needed it. He adored his children. Ray always had a smile or a joke to make everyone feel warm and welcome in his home or anywhere you would happen to see him!

Mary Ann’s family had a house in the mountains and they would often ask other family members to accompany them on trips to the mountains. There was a particularly memorable trip to the mountains for the Podmore family’s eldest child, Stephen. He spotted a bear staring at him through the window at the house in the mountains once and roared with laughter! Uncle Ray calmed his fears and told all of the cousins the bear was simply looking for something to eat!

Ray’s family and Jean’s family would often spend a lot of time together and a good time was had by all! After Ray’s passing, Mary Ann learned to drive and would often visit Jean. Jean was always happy to see Mary Ann. Mary Ann, too, has never been one to say anything negative about anyone!
